CHIPPEWA VALLEY GIVES BACK
Chippewa Valley Gives Back mission is to plan, coordinate, promote and execute fundraising event to raise money and awareness for other non-profits, charities and individuals in need throughout the communities that we live, work, and play.
Chippewa Valley Gives Back’s vision is to become Chippewa Valley’s leading advocate for support of all walks of life in our communities. To achieve our vision, we are geared to work closely with any and all non-profit organizations, charities, and individuals in need to help them raise funds and awareness to meet their mission and objectives.
Chippewa Valley Gives Back’s main vision is to improve literacy throughout the Chippewa Valley. With our Children’s Literacy Initiative we are hoping to raise funds to provide the opportunity for children within a 100-mile radius of Chippewa Falls to get in on the $1 book club but would like to upgrade to the $2 book a month program.
We understand that more than 60% of low-income families in the United States have no children’s books in their home and we would like to help bring that number down.
With our initiative in 2019, we hope to help approximately 11,200 children within the 100-mile radius at approximately 110 school districts in Wisconsin.
Our goal for 2019 is to raise $200,000 to cover the books for 8 months of the 2019-2020 academic school year to approx. 11,200 kids in 110 school districts here in Wisconsin. That would be approx. $179, 504 for the books and an additional $20,000 for marketing our initiative.
How We Got Started
Chippewa Valley Gives Back got started in the Fall of 2016 when a relative of the Founding CEO was born and diagnosed with Down Syndrome and the much needed awareness. Craig Evanson, Melissa Schultz, and Mary Jane Evanson formed the non-profit in the start of the journey to begin planning, coordinating, promoting and executing a fundraising event to bring awareness for Down Syndrome. The organization held that fundraiser in May of 2017 at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds with a Vendor / Crafter / Direct Seller / Small Business Fundraising event which included a Kids’ Korner with games, inflatable rides, face-painting, the display from the Chippewa Falls Police Department, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Eau Claire Regional Swat Team, and the Chippewa Falls Emergency Fire and Rescue. The event also included Pool & Dart Tournaments, a band, beer garden and street food vendors. We also had several pool and dart tournaments at local taverns to raise money. 2018 was slow fundraising year while only holding a few pool and dart tournaments at local taverns for Pediatric Congenital Heart Defects.
Where We Are Now
In the Fall of 2018, we decided to add additional volunteer board members to our organization. We searched through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, Craigslist and other sources to attract interested individuals that would be gracious enough to join our board in a volunteer capacity. Through our search from multiple sources, we have 11 heartwarming and focused community members join our team to help with our mission and our further vision. With the additional individuals we will be able to expand our reach, our mission, our goals and make the Chippewa Valley at better place to live for everyone. February 01, 2019 was our first official board meeting with the additional members with a meet and greet and the formation of the committees. With having focused committees and team members, Chippewa Valley Gives Back will be able to have accountability and be more focused on our fundraising events, be more connected with our sponsors/donors, be more involved with community events and will be able to expand to help more of the Chippewa Valley. If you would like to become involved with our organization in a volunteer capacity, please reach out to any of the board officers or members or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get in touch with you to set up a meeting and discuss the opportunities we may have for you.
